Ten years of 5 a.m. alarms, all for this
For over ten years I’ve voluntarily woken before sunrise to swim in cold water, ride until my legs file a formal complaint, and run just a little farther than is strictly sensible. Somehow all of that added up to a spot on Team Canada’s age-group team. This September I’ll pull on the maple leaf at the 2026 World Triathlon Championship Finals in Pontevedra, Spain, racing the standard distance — a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run — against the best amateurs on the planet.
Representing Canada on a world stage is a genuine dream. The slightly less dreamy part: flights to Spain, race fees, the official Team Canada kit, coaching and gear add up to about CAD $10,000 — currently financed by me, myself and one increasingly nervous bank account.
If you’d like to chip in, that’s wonderful — every little bit truly helps. If not, a share or a quick “go get ’em” is just as welcome. Either way, I’ll be out there racing my heart out with all of you in mind.
